It is in the western side of Maidan. Gholghar is a Hindi word meaning “Round House”. It was a granary built by Captain John Garstin, in year 1786 as there was famine in 1770 that killed near about 10 million people in Bengal and Bihar. The purpose of this Golghar was to store grains for British Army. Now it is the tourist Hub due to its awesome design.This amaing building has capacity to store 140000 tons of grains.
The Golghar is surrounded by stair case with the help of that people reach on the top. The stairs are designed in way as there are stairs in own Home. one can easily takes Bag or any needed things like water bottles during going to top. it was designed for the porters to carry out bags of grains to drop the grains inside from the hole on the top of Golghar.
